How we can help

Once you've reported it to us one of our officers will visit your home.

They'll:

  • give you a leaflet that explains what we can do to help
  • inspect your home to find the cause
  • explain how we can help and when we can start

To solve the problem our officers may:

  • look at the air flow in your home and how we can improve it
  • fit different types of fans 
  • need to repair part of your block or property
  • usually wash away the mould in your home

As damp and mould can be caused by many things, we’ll make sure what we do is individual to you and your home. 

They'll:

  • usually wash away the mould in your home
  • bring a hygrometer and some batteries for you to keep

A hygrometer is a small device that you can place anywhere in your home. It will show you the current moisture levels and temperature. 

We can also give you a paint pack with your choice of colour and painting equipment, to freshen up the rooms affected after.

It has a colour dial. When the arrow is blue it means you're at risk of mould forming. 

They'll explain what you should do when it hits blue.

Following up

Once the works are completed and the problem solved, we’ll call you about 4 weeks later to check everything is still OK.
