Library fees and charges

Books, talking books, spoken word and children's audio

• books, talking books, spoken word, and children's audio are all free to borrow for a three week loan period
• there will be no charge for the late return of items from the children’s collection
• there will be no charge for late return of books, talking books and spoken word by library users under 17 years of age, or those registered disabled or housebound
• late returns are charged at 30p per day up to a maximum of £15 per item
• borrowers aged 17 and under do not pay for the late return of books, talking books, spoken word, or children's audio
• registered disabled borrowers do not pay for the late return of books, talking books, spoken word, or children's audio
• home library service borrowers do not pay for the late return of books, talking books, spoken word, or children's audio

Language courses

• £1.45 for a 3 week loan
• late returns are charged at 30p per day up to a maximum of £15 per item
• these charges and fines apply to all borrowers except those using the home library service, who do not incur any fines

CDs

• CDs, double CDs and CD sets are £1 for a one week loan
• late returns are charged at 30p per day, up to a maximum of £15 per item
• these charges and fines apply to all borrowers except those using the home library service, who do not incur any fines

DVDs 

• £3.30 for a one week loan. Selected older titles £1.70 for a one week loan
• late returns are charged at £1.40 per day, up to a maximum of £15 per item
• these charges and fines apply to all borrowers
• new feature DVD loans are restricted to 2 per borrower

Requests

• requests cost 65p for any item that is in stock in Southwark libraries 
• requests requiring inter library loan or purchase cost £3 per item with an additional fee of £17.30 for items obtained from the British Library and other specialist libraries  
• requests for music scores cost £26 for up to 40 parts and £31 for 40 parts or more
• there is no charge for requests if you are 17 years or under

Printing

• A4 print outs are 20p per printed side (black and white) or £1.10 per printed side (colour)
• A3 print outs are 30p per printed side (black and white) or £2.20 per printed side (colour)

Photocopying

• black and white photocopying is 20p per photocopied side of A4, or 35p per photocopied side of A3
• colour photocopying is £1.10 per photocopied side of A4, or £2.20 per photocopied side of A3

Internet and use of the public access PCs

• using the internet and the office software available on the public access PCs is free

Library notice boards

• charge of £5.10 per item advertised for three weeks

Replacement library cards

• charge of £2.90 for issuing replacement library card if lost or stolen (no charge for borrowers aged 17 and under)
