School Streets permit

Get involved
Our aim has been to sign up at least 3 schools each year under the scheme which we started in 2018.
When it is not practical to close roads we improve access with wider footways for walking, cycling and scooting.
The School Street scheme has shown that fully involving the school and community is key to its success.
We’ll continue:
- working closely with our schools to actively campaign on improving road safety and air quality
- reporting road safety concerns in their school area
- assessing schools and whether they’re in a low or medium traffic location

There's also a Play Street scheme that you can get involved in. This scheme is organised by residents to allow children to have safe play time on their streets.
