Emergency work on protected trees
If a protected tree is dead or hazardous you might not need to apply for permission to work on it.
You still need to tell our planning enforcement team 5 days’ before you plan to do the work.
Immediate danger
You can work without notice if the tree is an immediate danger. For example, if it’s about to fall and could cause harm or damage.
We'll need proof of the danger later so collect evidence, for example:
- photographs
- tree surgeon’s report
- independent witness statements
If you do not provide proof, you might face court action.
