Ask for a tree to be protected
Contact us if you want us to issue a tree preservation order (TPO).
Tell us why you think the tree should be protected. We consider:
- the tree's importance, including size, form, rarity, screening value or contribution to the character or appearance of a conservation area
- the significance of the tree in its surroundings and the wider impact on the environment
- if the tree could be a risk in the future
We do not usually issue TPOs for trees we already manage, or that are managed by an organisation for us, such as trees on a public highway.
