Timetable, cost and enrolling

This course is suitable for all levels of fitness and experience.

Kundalini is considered the most powerful and beneficial forms of yoga. It's often referred to as the yoga of awareness.

Kundalini is a very deep practice involving posture work, breathing and chanting to activate all the senses.

By encouraging connection to the root chakra (or energy point) and enabling the flow of energy to the other chakras, kundalini can bring about spiritual, physical, and emotional change.

This can enhance our relationship with ourselves and our surroundings.

What you’ll learn

You'll learn simple, useful tools to aid wellbeing and help manage everyday stresses including how to:

  • set up the body for safe and effective exercise
  • connect the mind with the body and breath to bring about clarity of movement and thought
  • efficiently and effectively stretch and strengthen major muscle groups and mobilise major joints
  • adapt the level of challenge to suit your own level of fitness and experience

Once you've completed the course you'll be encouraged to continue practicing for your physical and mental wellbeing.

You can do this in your own time. You may also choose to progress to a course with another provider.

How it's taught

You'll practice on a mat or a chair.

Each session will start with an activity to focus the mind and some warm up exercises.

This will be followed by a kriya (a series of stretches/postures) then relaxation, before finishing with a short meditation and tuning out.

No 2 weeks will be the same.

Your tutor will demonstrate the practice and techniques.

They will monitor and assess you throughout, to make sure exercises are carried out safely.

You'll be encouraged to ‘lose yourself’ in your practice, while working to your own level and ability.

What you'll need

You'll need:

  • your own yoga mat and/or block or you can use ours
  • a light blanket or shawl to keep yourself warm during relaxation
  • a cushion if you find it difficult sitting cross-legged
  • stretchy, comfortable clothing
  • a bottle of water
