Applications close 10am, Tuesday, 29 April 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to young people aged 11-25 in Lambeth and Southwark, we're developing a new creative health programme that supports young people's mental health through free creative activity; a space to build community, learn new skills, and explore and experience the joy of creativity.
We’re looking for four UK-based artist-practitioners whose practice centres and responds to supporting young people, and their mental health and wellbeing to come together to imagine how our new programme at Southbank Centre can create space for young people to thrive and experience the transformative power of creativity and the arts.
We recognise the need for creative health projects that challenge systemic racism, address health inequalities and respond to young people’s lived experiences of power, privilege and discrimination. This programme will embed an intersectional, anti-oppressive approach and align with disability-justice practices and perspectives, and we’re looking to work with artists whose practices are shaped and driven by these principles.
With guidance and support from our Arts & Wellbeing team and inspiring guest practitioners working in creative health and socially engaged practice, the Artist Advisory Collective will be supported to deepen reflective practice, develop and collaborate on new ideas and play a key advisory role in shaping and delivering our creative health vision.
Who we’d like to work with
We’re looking for developing artists with at least three years of experience, specialising in creative health or participatory arts across any discipline. Applicants must have demonstrable experience of both working with children and young people, and delivering participatory programmes in community, health, wellbeing, or youth work settings. A commitment to access and inclusion; experience working with participants with a range of access requirements and respecting the values, attitudes, and beliefs across the rich cultural tapestry of our communities in Lambeth and Southwark.
We’re committed to working with and supporting artists who have lived experience of mental health support systems and settings, and encourage applications from artists from the global majority, and artists who are representative of our communities in Lambeth and Southwark.
Key dates and artist fee
This is a paid role from June- November 2025.
Artists will be paid at a total fee of £4,500 to participate.
