Paid placements: internships and apprenticeships

Find out about paid placements and internships, which may include mentoring, networking opportunities and employer insight days:

  • Southwark Council internship scheme – paid internships lasting 6 to 12 weeks, open to residents aged from 16 to 24, especially young people who face barriers to employment
  • Southwark Council apprenticeship programme - get work-based skills and nationally recognised qualifications in a variety of council services
  • Southwark Education Business Alliance (Southwark EBA) – provides work placements and internships for 16 to 18-year-old residents who are currently in education
  • upReach – paid internships for undergraduates or recent graduates who have a home address in Southwark and meet other eligibility criteria, such as having attended state school and being over the age of 18
  • Supported Internships – a structured study programme based primarily with an employer. Open to young people aged from 16 to 24 with a statement of Special Education Needs (SEN), a Learning Difficulty Assessment (LDA) or an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP)
  • Movement to Work – access to transformational work experience placements, linked to real jobs for young people aged 15 to 18 from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Historic Royal Palaces Volunteering – opportunities at the Historic Royal Palaces, open to anyone aged 18 or older
  • Southwark Works - free employment support service for residents of all ages, experiences and backgrounds
