Food waste recycling in flats
Properties not included in the food waste rollout in October
- Non-residential properties such as commercial premises, schools, and places of worship: Some of these already receive a food waste collection. The council are reviewing these collections and will be adding the food waste service in early 2025.
- Flats above shops and properties without storage space for bins: We are identifying on street locations for food waste collection points and will be adding these flats to the service around March 2025.
- Small blocks with less than 8 flats: Many of these already have a food waste service and use the kerbside service already with individual bins issued to each flat. We’ll be reviewing each one to confirm which service is most suitable for each and including these flats around March 2025.
- There may be a small number of blocks where collection points are not agreed or caddies not delivered to individual flats in time for the rollout in October. We will add this as quickly as possible after the initial rollout.
Apart from flats in these groups, you should receive information about the new food waste collection by October.
