Licence suspensions

Annual licence fees for premises licences must be paid within 21 days of the due date. Otherwise, the licence will be suspended.

If the fee is not paid in time, we will serve a formal notice. You must then stop providing any activity covered by the licence at the premises. Continuing to run the premises when your license is suspended is illegal. The suspension will continue until you pay the fee.

Late night levy

All licensed premises allowed to sell alcohol from 00:01 to 06:00 must pay an annual fee of £299 to £4,400. This depends:

  • on their rateable value for business rates
  • if the premises are mainly or only used to sell alcohol for drinking on site

Businesses pay the levy along with the annual premises licence fee.
