Animal welfare licence

You need an animal welfare licence if you are:

• selling animals as pets
• providing or arranging for the provision of boarding for cats or dogs (including day care)
• hiring out horses
• breeding dogs
• keeping or training animals for exhibition

You need a separate licence to keep dangerous and wild animals or to run a zoo.
