How we support foster carers
As a local authority, we're a not-for-profit fostering team.
Our fostering service works alongside social workers who are responsible for the children in our care.
If you foster through us we’ll:
- try to match you with children within your preferred age range
- give you a 3-day ‘skills to foster’ course during your assessment
- provide ongoing training while you are a foster carer
- provide you with a dedicated social worker who will visit you regularly and give you practical support
- give you access to specialist health, educational and therapeutic support for every child you foster
- provide membership to The Fostering Network for advice, information and support
- invite you to foster carer picnics, balls and other social events
- offer you access to foster care support groups, coffee mornings and wellbeing groups
- give you access to 24-hour telephone support
