Admissions for University Technical Colleges and studio schools

University Technical Colleges and studio schools provide courses of study or skill-based learning for 14 to 19 year olds.

UTCs and studio schools

University Technical Colleges (UTCs) and studio schools provide technically-oriented courses of study or work skill-based learning for 14 to 19 year olds.

There are no UTCs or studio schools in Southwark, but you can still apply for a place outside of Southwark.

Find a UTC school near you, including their contact details

When to apply

UTCs and studio schools admit pupils at the beginning of Year 10.

How to apply

If you're a Southwark resident, you can:

Sign in to eAdmissions

You can express a preference for up to six UTCs or studio school places.

If you put a school that is not a UTC or studio school on the online application, we will not consider them.

If you do not live in Southwark, complete the admission application for the borough in which you live.

Check your local council website.

Applying for a place for someone with a social or medical need

If the young person you’re applying for has medical or social needs, you must upload additional supporting documents as attachments with your online application.

Read more about applications for children with medical and social needs.

It is important that you also visit the UTC or studio school first before naming it as a preference on your application. This is to make sure that the school is suitable.

Looked after children (LAC) and previously looked after children (PLAC)

You can read more information about admissions to UTC and studio school for children who are looked after (LAC) or previously looked after children (PLAC)

Moving house

If your child's home address has changed after submitting your application but before the UTC or studio school application deadline, update your child's online application with their new home address immediately.
