Apply for a council home

To be included on the housing register you should be 16 or older. One of the following must apply:

• you’ve lived in Southwark continuously for the past 5 years
• you work in Southwark and have a housing need, for example you live in an overcrowded home or you have a medical need to move
• you have served in the regular armed forces within 5 years of the date of your application

You cannot be included on the housing register if you:

• are guilty of behaviour serious enough to make you unsuitable to be a council tenant or a tenant of our partner landlords
• are subject to immigration control, unless the Secretary of State overrules it
• own your home or other residential accommodation
