How to apply for a council home. Who can apply, and what information you'll need to provide.

How to apply
First you need to complete an online self assessment to see if you have a realistic chance of securing a council home.
Get an application form
If the assessment shows you have a good chance, submit a housing application form to get on the housing register.
To get to the application form:
- sign in to your MySouthwark account or register on MySouthwark
- visit the page 'Your accounts' and add 'Housing applications'
- select 'Save'
- select 'View'
- select 'Complete a housing application form'
Check what information you need to give when you apply.
What we'll need
We need to know about:
- yourself
- anyone who’ll be moving with you
- about your current home
You'll need:
- details about your employer
- your National Insurance number
- the National Insurance number of any household member over 18 years old
- the addresses that you, your partner and any children have lived at in the past 5 years, with dates
- information about your income and savings
- medical information if you’re moving for medical reasons
What happens next
After you've filled in the form, we'll send you an online reference number.
