Extend your lease

Check if you can extend your lease. Find out how to extend it formally or informally, how much it costs and about the terms of the extension.

How to apply informally (voluntary)

Our voluntary process is more informal.

Before requesting an extension informally check your lease to see how long you have left on it. It shows the start and end date. We cannot provide this information.

If you're not sure you should take independent legal advice.

You can get a copy of your lease from the Land Registry or from us

You can apply informally by filling out our online form.

Before you start make sure have the details of all registered leaseholders including their:

  • names

  • contact number

  • full address of the property and the property reference, or your service charge account number

You'll also need to pay the non-refundable administration fee when you apply.

What happens next

We'll instruct our surveyor to carry out the lease extension valuation and provide an offer letter to you.

Once the premium is agreed we'll need your solicitor’s details.

Our external solicitor will then complete the lease extension with them.
