How to apply
Once you've applied online we'll ask:
- for all of your privately rented properties in Southwark
- whether they're let as shared houses/HMOs
We'll carry out checks to ensure ‘fit and proper’ people manage the privately rented property.
We'll ask for documentation as evidence of your compliance with particular criteria.
Our 'fit and proper' test for the purposes of Gold Standard Charter membership is the same as for licensing [ADD LINK]
If you're successful we'll send you a confirmation and add you to our public Gold Standard Charter register.
If you've applied for a property licence of a property we'll carry out additional checks on your application to ensure it complies with Gold Standard criteria.
If a member becomes ‘not fit and proper’ during their charter membership we will:
- cancel their membership
- ban them from applying to the scheme again until they become 'fit and proper' again (at the council's discretion)
We carry out annual checks to ensure scheme members are still complying with the Gold Standard Charter criteria.
Membership lasts for 5 years and you'll need to re-apply to renew.
Members must sign up to an accreditation scheme.
