Keep your electrical appliances safe by:
- unplugging appliances that have a burning smell, look damaged or show exposed wires - do not use them
- taking plugs out of any damaged sockets
- taking care with light bulbs and tubes, as these can get hot while switched on
- not plugging too many devices or appliances into a single socket - this can cause overheating and fires
- not using sockets near to a leak or water/liquid spill - turn off the circuit at the fuse box
- not using electrical items near water, for example, don't keep flowers near your TV
- keeping your toaster clean and away from curtains
