Streetspace

A programme of traffic reduction schemes across the borough.

Streetspace is a programme of traffic reduction schemes across the borough.

The work mainly consists of installing filters, such as bollards, planters or cameras, which help to:

  • reduce traffic on certain streets in the borough
  • encourage more foot and cycle traffic

The scheme locations are:

  • Dulwich Village, East Dulwich and Champion Hill
  • Walworth
  • Bermondsey Street
  • East Faraday
  • North Peckham
  • Brunswick Park
  • Great Suffolk Street
  • Peckham Rye

If you have a Blue Badge you can register for a free exemption from the camera-enforced Streetspace measures in Southwark.

You can apply for a Blue Badge if you have a severe mobility problem and find it difficult to use public transport. You can find out more on our Blue Badge page.

The Streetspace schemes were introduced using Experimental Traffic Orders. These allow the measures to be monitored and consulted on in real-time. The schemes were subject to an extensive review and decision-making process to determine whether they're made permanent, amended or removed.
