Chambers Wharf Community Enhancement Fund
The Thames Tideway supersewer project provides a £6 million fund to be spent on local infrastructure projects.
£1 million of this has been committed to the Chambers Wharf Community Enhancement Fund.
What the money can be spent on
The fund can be spent on projects which:
- benefit the community directly affected by Tideway’s construction work at Chambers Wharf
- take place within the area between Jamaica Road, Mill Street, the river and West Lane
- can be properly maintained in the future

Who can apply for funding
Any group or individual who can deliver a project benefitting local residents can apply. For example, groups may be:
- community groups
- educational groups
- residents’ groups
- art groups
The decision making panel
A panel of key stakeholders and community members has been set up to vote on applications. It includes representatives of:
- Cherry Gardens Estate
- Luna House
- Fountain Green Square
- Dickens Estate
- Wrayburn House
- Peabody Estate
How to apply for funding
You can apply at any time. The panel meets twice a year in April and September to agree on which projects to fund.
Download the application form (DOCX, 234KB) and email it to jacqueline.christie@southwark.gov.uk, or request a paper copy and we will post it to you.
You can apply for as much, or as little funding as you wish, up to a £1 million per proposal. There is no limit on how many different applications you can submit. Feasibility studies are limited to £5,000. Southwark Council officers will not assist in the production of proposals.

Spending so far
Wrayburn Community Organisation (TMO) community planting
£16,500 has been approved to replace old rotten wooden planters and create a community vegetable garden.
In September 2024 Wrayburn TMO are planning a community party to encourage residents to get involved in gardening, get active and meet people.
