The London Museum has an unrivalled collection of artefacts and information about London's past. Much of the material in their archaeological archive has been recovered from Southwark.
The Thames foreshore is London’s largest archaeological site. You need a permit from the Port of London Authority. to collect items from the foreshore. Visits are often led by the Thames Discovery Programme. When planning independent visits, please check tide times and always be aware of the nearest stair.
The Surrey Archaeological Society and the London and Middlesex Archaeological Society both hold talks, events and visits, many of which cover the archaeology of Southwark or London.
