Make major changes to a premises licence
You can apply for a major variation to your existing premises licence if you:
- plan major structural alterations to your premises
- want to change your hours of operation
- want to change the types of licensable activities

Advertising the licence application
You must publicly advertise at the premises and in a local newspaper. You must say that you’ve applied to make major changes to your premises licence.
Advertising on the premises
You must display a notice of your application to change your premises licence on the premises. It must be displayed for 28 days. This starts on the day after the application is made.
Download a copy of the public notice to vary a licence template.
The notice must be:
- printed on A3 blue paper and laminated
- displayed and readable outside the premises
- not obscured by shutters
- displayed for the whole 28 days
Advertising in a newspaper
You must also send a copy of the notice to a local newspaper. Do this within 10 working days of submitting the application.
