What we’re looking for
We mainly accept records related to Southwark and we would like items that fill gaps in our collection.
We’re looking for historical records, including:
- photographs
- written accounts of family history
- home movies and other films or tape recordings of local events
- personal histories
- event programmes, flyers, posters, clippings
- theatre programmes
- church pamphlets
- local community groups and club records
- oral histories
We can make copies of your records if you would like to keep the originals.
Formats
We can take records in a variety of formats, including:
- photos
- audio-visual recordings
- items on paper
- computer files
Building an inclusive collection
In particular, tell us if you have anything you could donate that would help to preserve and celebrate the history of:
- people with mental health challenges
- Deaf, neurodiverse and disabled people
- Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities
- communities of ethnic and cultural travellers
- LGBTQ+ communities
- post-WW2 arrivals in Southwark
- Southwark's young residents
