Fire safety

The safety of residents is our priority. We work with the London Fire Brigade to make Southwark Council housing safe. For example we: 

• do fire risk assessments for all our blocks
• visit and inspect blocks regularly
• develop fire safety plans
• consider the fire safety needs of each block

The work we’ve done to help prevent fires includes:

• installing heat and smoke alarms in every habitable room 
• better compartmentation, which is a way to help stop fires from spreading 

We design our buildings to prevent a fire from spreading to a neighbouring flat for more than 1 hour.
