What are major works
Major works are large one-off repair works, improvements or redecoration to your building or the area around your building.
They are different from unplanned repairs.
As a freeholder we’re responsible for maintaining the:
-
structure, exterior and common parts of our buildings
-
communal services and the estate
Leaseholders are usually responsible for paying towards the costs of any major works that are needed.
Freeholders with a house on one of our estates may also have to pay towards some of the works. Check your transfer of freehold.
The costs may be shared between:
-
all the properties in a building or estate
-
only among those properties that benefit from the work
All leases are different with different terms so check yours. You can request another if you've lost yours.
