The safety of residents is our priority. We work with the London Fire Brigade to make Southwark Council housing safe. For example we:
- do fire risk assessments for all our blocks
- visit and inspect blocks regularly
- develop fire safety plans
- consider the fire safety needs of each block
The work we’ve done to help prevent fires includes:
- installing heat and smoke alarms in every habitable room
- better compartmentation, which is a way to help stop fires from spreading
We design our buildings to prevent a fire from spreading to a neighbouring flat for more than 1 hour.
