Enjoy a network of cycle routes along Southwark’s streets away from the traffic.
The Southwark Spine cycle route offers a safe and easy cycle route for all abilities. The route was funded by us and goes from the north to the south of Southwark.
The route is segregated in areas of heavy traffic, with different signals to prioritise cyclists at junctions. On streets with moderate traffic, the road layout, including parking, has been redesigned to make way for cyclists and walkers.
To learn more about the route:
Enjoy a 2-mile, signed walking and cycle trail through historic Rotherhithe (PDF, 1.45MB).
The trail takes in the sights of Canada Water, Albion Channel, Surrey Water, Staves Hill, Russian Dock Woodland, Greenland Dock and Surrey Quays shopping centre.
Most of the route is traffic free, and there are cafés and picnic stops along the way.
TfL's Cycleways are clearly marked cycle routes across London, including Southwark.
You can also discover family-friendly routes through parks, waterways and forests.
We're always looking for ways to improve our cycling routes and infrastructure.
