Affordable housing delivery
Contents
Overview
In 2002, we asked for 25% affordable housing in developments of more than 15 homes.
In 2007, this policy increased to 35%.
Today, we also need different types of affordable housing, such as social and intermediate housing. See our affordable housing policy timeline.
Affordable housing is monitored to make sure it is built and managed as we agreed with developers and housing associations. When a large development gets planning permission, the developer must build a certain number and type of affordable homes. If they do not, we take enforcement action against them.
