Support programmes

These programmes can help you to be more active and stay well.

 

Southwark Healthy Lifestyle hub

Free service providing support to residents who want to make positive changes, but need help to get going. It’s a friendly support to motivate you, and you get access to services.

This service is for Southwark residents only, or those registered with a Southwark GP. You need to be over the age of 18 and have one or more of the following: 

  • a low level of physical activity
  • smoking
  • obesity
  • struggling with low mood, stress or anxiety

Alive ‘n’ Kicking

Alive 'n' Kicking is a free 12-week course to help whole families make healthier choices around food and exercise. 

It's for children (4 to 17 years) and their families that live in Southwark, who are overweight or obese.

Exercise on referral

A 12-week programme to help you increase the amount of physical activity you do each week. It's for those who are currently not physically active and need support in getting started. 

If you’re over 16, you could be eligible for a referral from your GP. Please discuss with your GP to ensure you do not have any underlying condition which would make it unsafe for you to exercise.

Diabetes prevention programme

The Healthier You Diabetes Prevention Programme provides personalised support to help adults reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes. This includes education on healthy eating and lifestyle, help to lose weight, and physical exercise programmes. 

If a blood test shows that you're at risk of type 2 diabetes, you should be referred to the service.
