Information for pensioners

We cannot issue you a P45 on retirement. The council will still pay your retirement pension. If you start work with a new employer, you must apply to HMRC for a tax code for your new employer.

After retirement, if you have a question about your pension's tax, contact HMRC. Quote reference number 846/LLB8A.

HMRC will notify you of any change in your coding. A notification is also sent to the pensions' payroll office. The new code will appear on your payslip thereafter and the amount of tax will be adjusted.
