What to do if you're at risk
If you’re at risk of being made homeless, look for help as soon as possible.
Get help and advice as soon as you think you’re at risk of losing your home.
This will give us more time to prevent you from becoming homeless or to help you find somewhere else to live.
The earlier you make contact, the more choices you may get to sort things out.
You may be at risk of homelessness for different reasons which could include:
- financial difficulties
- you can no longer afford your rent
- your home is too crowded
- you’re a victim of domestic violence
- you’re a young person
- your landlord has asked you to leave
- substance misuse
- you’ve just come out of prison
- you’re suffering with mental ill health
- you were in the armed forces
- a relationship has broken down
- you’ve just come out of hospital
If you need to be rehoused, we’ll look at options in a planned way to avoid an emergency intervention or the need for temporary accommodation.
We aim to carry out homelessness prevention work for anyone threatened with homelessness within 56 days.
We’ll support you to stay in your home if possible.
If you cannot keep your home, we’ll guide you through getting somewhere new to live.
We'll try and find you somewhere to stay temporarily while we look at finding you somewhere to live permanently.
