Leaseholder deed of certificate

Find out if you need to fill out a deed of certificate to get protection against costs for building and fire safety issues.

What you need to do

If you receive a notice from us you’ll need to submit a leaseholder deed of certificate.

We must receive your certificate and supporting documents before the deadline on our letter.

If you did not own the property on 14 February 2022 you still must fill in and sign the certificate.

When submitting your leasehold certificate, you must also provide:

  • an official copy of the title register proving ownership on 14 February 2022
  • a utility bill or bank statement covering 14 February 2022 if you were living in the property then
  • the completed certificate, signed by a witness (a witness cannot be a family member)

You must list all current leaseholders' names on the certificate.

You only need 1 signature and 1 certificate for your property.

We do not accept digital signatures.

You may still receive further communication from us if you’ve already submitted:

  • a leaseholder deed of certificate
  • a request for an extension
  • a question

This does not mean we have not received your submission.

You can download the deed of certificate template which shows the information you’ll need to include on it.
