223 Southwark Park Road
The former Thorowgoods furniture store at 223 Southwark Park Road is a key anchor store on the market square. We bought the building when the store closed in 2019. We ran an open tender process to find an operator who could use it to bring more people to the town centre.
The Really Local Group were appointed to manage the building in early 2020. They proposed to transform the store into a cultural community hub with:
- a three-screen cinema
- a coffee shop
- a café
- a bar
- informal co-working spaces
- a food and craft hall featuring local artisans and vendors
From November 2020 until the works started in 2021, the building was used by the Southwark Construction Skills Centre. They provided free training and access to digital skills for the community.
