Appeal a planning decision

You can appeal a decision we make about a planning application.
Read the appeal guidance and access the appeal form. The Planning Inspectorate handles all planning appeals in England.
You can appeal about:
- the refusal of planning permission, listed building consent or advertisement consent
- a planning enforcement notice
- the time it's taking us to make a decision (if you've waited already two months or longer)
Appeals can only be made by or on behalf of the person who made the application. Objectors and others with an interest cannot appeal if they're unhappy about the decision.
You must make planning, listed building and advertisement appeals within six months from the date you got the decision notice. If you have not received a decision, you can appeal for up to six months from the date the decision was due to arrive. This is unless a time extension has been agreed in writing.
If you're appealing an enforcement notice, you have 28 days from the date on your decision letter. If the notice came after your application was refused, you have up to six months from the date on your refusal letter to appeal.

Viewing planning appeals
Use the Planning Register to view all planning appeals in Southwark:
- Select the 'Appeals' search option
- Enter the relevant planning reference, address, or post code
- Select 'Search'
Email Planning.Enquires@southwark.gov.uk if you need a certified copy of an appeal decision letter. There is a £10 charge for providing copies.
Commenting on an application that has gone to appeal
If you've sent us comments about a planning application that went to appeal, we will forward them to the Planning Inspectorate. You do not need to send these comments again. The appointed inspector will take the comments into account when deciding the appeal.
To submit a new or updated comment, or to withdraw one, write to the Planning Inspectorate. You must do this within six weeks from the appeal start date. Comments received after the start date will not be considered.
