Planning checklists
Before you submit a planning application, use our planning checklists to make sure that you include all the information and documents needed for the type of application you are making. If you don't, it may invalidate your application. We recommend that you get pre-application advice if you are unsure.
Most applications require a fee to be paid when you submit them. Use the Planning Portal’s guide to fees to estimate the fee you’ll have to pay when you submit your application.
To meet high fire safety standards in Southwark, major developments must complete a fire statement.
See the Planning Portal's guidance. It explains how to fill in your application form.
Application document guidelines
When you prepare your application, you should make sure that:
-
each document has the correct title
-
each drawing has a reference number, north arrow, and scale bar
-
all documents and drawings are submitted as separate files
- you provide fire safety information with every application
You should also check that there is no personal information in your submitted documents. This type of information includes:
- people’s names and addresses
- people’s contact details (including phone numbers and email addresses)
- car registration plate numbers
- photos of people
- signatures
We may need to invalidate your application if you do not follow these guidelines.
