Planning checklists

Before you submit a planning application, use our planning checklists to make sure that you include all the information and documents needed for the type of application you are making. If you don't, it may invalidate your application. We recommend that you get pre-application advice if you are unsure.

When you prepare your application, you should make sure that:

  • each document is correctly titled

  • each drawing has a reference number, north arrow, and scale bar

  • all documents and drawings are separate files

  • documents do not contain sensitive information

  • you provide fire safety information

Most applications require a fee to be paid when you submit them. Use the Planning Portal’s guide to fees to estimate the fee you’ll have to pay when you submit your application.

To meet high fire safety standards in Southwark, major developments must complete a fire statement.

See the Planning Portal's guidance. It explains how to fill in your application form.
