The Aylesham Centre

Find out about plans for new housing, public spaces and shops. How we're supporting local traders and ensuing community benefits.

Transport

Network Rail’s proposals to upgrade the station, with a second entrance and lift access, will increase capacity of the station (it's currently used by just under 15,000 passengers per day).

As Peckham has frequent buses (one every two minutes), there isn’t a proposal to provide more.

Southwark Council, TfL and Berkeley are discussing improvements to the bus stand next to the Aylesham Centre that will improve the movement of buses.

With frequent buses and the improved railway station, there is likely to be enough public transport to meet any increased demand created by the Aylesham development. To be sure of this, Berkeley will carry out a detailed transport impact study as part of their planning application.

The number of spaces in the new Morrison's car park will be reduced. This is in line with our commitment to tackling the climate emergency and encouraging more sustainable, active travel.
