Hire an outdoor space in Southwark

When you plan how much your event will cost, include all costs for fees for licences and permits.

Commercial event hire fees are based on the number of people attending the event overall and not the number attending at any one time. 

You have to pay an application fee when you apply to hold an outdoor event. It is non-refundable. 

There is also a fee for hiring outdoor spaces such as parks in Southwark.

Discounts on hire fees and charges

These groups get a 50% discount on the application fee: 

• ‘friends-of’ groups 
• council-funded events
• council-delivered events

You can get a 50% discount on the hire fee if your event is organised by a:

• charity
• local community group
• not-for-profit organisation

You may get an additional discount on the hire fee of up to 90% if your event is:

• small or medium in scale
• benefits the local community and area
• minimises its impact on the site and environment

A ‘maximum’ of 90% discount can be awarded to any 1 event. 

Discounts for fundraising events

You can get a 25% discount if you’re organising a commercial fundraising event, organised and delivered by a company. These are events that are usually for charity.

Small-scale commercial fundraising events can apply for a discount if they meet the criteria.
