Elections for the Mayor of London and the London Assembly
The Greater London Authority (GLA) election took place on Thursday 1 May 2008 in 121 polling stations throughout the borough and in many more locations in the rest of London.

Rotherhithe by-election
Wilma Veronica Nelson was elected as a councillor for the Rotherhithe ward. The by-election was prompted by the death of Anne Yates (Liberal Democrat).
