Southwark Internships: Shape future paths to success

Mohammed Ahmed

Mohammed Ahmed

My name is Ahmed, Mohammed, but you can call me Tanvir. I am an Intern for the IT and Digital team. I am Bengali and the 4th of 6 children excluding Theo our Bengal cat.

I think my best friend would describe me as calm-minded, personable, and curious. When  out you can almost always catch me with a camera looking for the best shot, and sometimes the perfect shot requires a little bit of patience but that patience results in shots that you can only be proud of.

The biggest risk I have taken so far has definitely been leaving university after my first year, it was somewhat an emotional rollercoaster. It wasn’t necessarily a bad time but travelling 4 hours a day to get to and back from university can really take a toll on you and your mental psyche, and thus I took my leave knowing that there were bigger and better opportunities to  lead me to a career path that I will ultimately love.

I’ve always wanted to work in a place with a real connection to my life, having been born and raised in Southwark, (Guys Hospital, Peckham, Elephant and Castle, Walworth) you learn how amazing this side of the river truly is, and whilst knowing what sector I would like to start a career in I thought Southwark was the absolute best opportunity to gain experience where I felt close to home.

During my time at this internship I hope to find my niche, I am still quite young and that gives me time to explore my career options and specialise, but in the meantime I need to find that niche that I would someday like to specialise in and I hope while I’m at Southwark I am able to find something, maybe not my niche per say but maybe something which leads in the right direction.
